Online ADHD assessment in Ireland: what to verify

Online delivery does not by itself prove or disprove quality. Check the responsible professional, the assessment method, identity and privacy controls, the written report and what happens if remote assessment is not suitable.

Before booking

• Identify the clinician who is responsible and verify the exact professional status claimed.
• Ask which parts are live clinical interviews and which are questionnaires or computer tasks.
• Confirm how developmental and collateral information is considered.
• Ask what is included in the fee and when the report will issue.
• Ask what happens if the clinician decides an in-person or different assessment is needed.

No automatic acceptance

An online report is not automatically accepted for RACE, DARE, workplace support, public services, insurance, prescribing or shared care. Ask the receiving organisation or clinician what current evidence it requires before you book.

Medication is separate

A diagnosis does not automatically lead to medication. Prescribing requires an appropriately authorised medical prescriber and an individual clinical decision. Ask whether a separate medical assessment is needed and do not assume another clinician will take over prescribing or shared care.

No. The receiving organisation or clinician decides what evidence it will accept.

Does an online diagnosis include prescribing?

Not automatically. Prescribing is a separate medical decision by an authorised prescriber.
